Another night to be scratched into the star-studded celebrity calendar is of the course the 24th annual Billboard Music Awards, 2016 as aired this past Sunday.

As much as the awards are the most talked about subject, and i’ll share some of my favourite winners below, it’s important to remember everything that goes into such a memorable night.

The most talked about winner, and in my opinion truly the most deserving was The Weeknd. Pictured holding a staggering 8 awards, he’s almost been crowned (and mistook himself for) the biggest winning male artist in history – however Usher still holds that crown. The awards included Top 100 Artist, Top R&B Song and Top Song Sales; celebrities such as girlfriend Bella Hadid were quick to express their congratulations.

Then we have the queen herself, Adele; taking home a modest 5 awards (including Top Artist) and although she wasn’t present, she still took to the stage via video with her alluring and adorable charm to thank for her awards. As well as this, always grabbing attention, she premiered the video for new single ‘Send My Love’, a masterpiece as always.

As well as these two, the likes of Justin Bieber, Drake and Walk the Moon all took home a multitude of awards – with Biebs taking home Top Male Artist as well as the least shocking; Top Social Media Artist (no surprises there with his ever impressive 81.8 mill followers!)

As with every award show, the performances were on point. Whether they’re a ballad that gets you reaching for the tissues a whole toilet roll (i’m looking at you Adele), or a jumping dance number – they’re always great. So let’s see what 2016 gave us;

DNCE – They offered us more than cake, and with their new and ever chart-climbing hit single, audience members were up and dancing in a flash. Not only was frontman Joe Jonas entertaining, but band members had their guitars swinging every which way and were very entertaining; most entertained being little brother Nick Jonas who ironically acted as a proud dad!

Rihanna – The pop princess certainly didn’t hold back with a performance of ‘Love on the Brain’ from her latest album ANTI . Rihanna is always flawless in my opinion and if you know me well, you know i’ll never fault her. But even without my biased opinion, everyone out there know’s she smashed it and it was thoroughly enjoyed.

Kesha – A last favourite, but certainly not least was of course the wonderful Kesha covering the Bob Dylan classic – ‘It Ain’t Me Babe’. With her current situation, this opportunity for the star to show her absolutely flawless vocal ability and range was cherished by the audience and earned her a much deserved standing ovation.

Of course, it is important to mention Madonna & Stevie Wonder’s medley of “Nothing Compares 2 U”/”Purple Rain”. A tribute to the late Prince, the performance was not overly loved but of course powerful and appreciated – the most notable feature being the lighting up of the arena with audience members’ purple wristbands.

With every award show is the accompanying red carpet and what would current media be like without the evaluation and criticism of the talent – fashion and beauty wise of course.

Rihanna – RiRi stole the show once again, but this was due to her flawless make-up and bold new bob hairstyle. Showcasing the perfectly smoky eye and textured hair do, all eyes were on her.

Zendaya – Not only was her face flawless as always, our girl attracted only the best attention with her minimal but sleek nude outfit.

Ariana – With her signature high ponytail and nude lip, Ariana’s face wasn’t the only thing that got people talking – her eye-catching dress was a vision of blue Atelier Versace.

There’s no way you can doubt that this years BBMA’s were just as glitzy and glamorous as the rest and if you wish to read more – and look out for Kesha’s outfit (I couldn’t possibly have included it due to the blindness it induced), then take a look at the official website here!

Now, to practice on my own Rihanna-esque smoky eye…
